Related to the paving project this summer, the Douglas County Traffic Engineering department has completed a comprehensive review of the posted speed limits on Homestead Road (35 mph between Pine Drive and Robin Road, 30 mph from Robin Road to Deer Lane).
Their findings are that Homestead Road has a number of hidden driveways because the rolling hills in our neighborhood limit the line of sight. As a result, they have determined that 25 mph is a more appropriate speed limit, and they have asked Traffic Services to replace the existing speed limit signs with 25 mph signs.
Note that this is consistent with the change last year to 25 mph speed limits on Ponderosa Drive throughout the Ponderosa Hills neighborhood.
Although it’s not clear exactly when this will happen, apparently this change is in the queue with Traffic Services, so be on the lookout for the reduced speed limit.
